Thanks to the Gore-Tex® Duratherm Kelvin membrane, featuring insulating hollow-core fibres, these are shoes that provide you with warmth, rated down to -15 degrees Celcius, total wind protection and reliable waterproof performance. Comfort is superb as the weather turns cold, wet and nasty. At the ankle, the flexible Easyfit Climaflex collar allows easy pedalling but with its Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane also prevents water from getting in. Inside the shoes, the Arctic 4layer insole adds another layer of insulation from the cold - the four-layer aluminium and fleece construction works with the Gore-Tex membrane to deliver outstanding warmth even when you're cycling in temperatures below freezing. Efficient Winter Pedalling It's not just about weather protection though. Pedalling performance isn't overlooked either. Just like the summer version of this shoe, the Extreme XC GTX winter shoes get the stiff and efficient Speedlight 3D Carbon sole unit. A full-carbon insert at the pedal area imparts outstanding support for a stable pedalling platform and quick power transfer. The stiffness rating of 12 out of 15 guarantees direct and positive power application but also a degree of flex for vibration damping. Just what you need when building winter miles off-road. XFrame ® Excellence When it comes to long-ride comfort there's little that matches the snug-fitting XFrame® upper. This innovative design holds the foot firmly in place but does so without creating pressure points. The system is closed via Northwave's own SLW2 ratchet system, allowing precise customisation of the fit, even on the move, as well as an easy release at the end of a tough winter ride. Cleat Guidance These MTB shoes are compatible with MTB pedal systems, which use cleats with SPD standard (2-bolt standard), e.g.: Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, CrankBrothers, CrankBrothers Race, Look MTB, Xtreme MTB, Wellgo MTB, Ritchey MTB.
