Description
A lovely French Majolica Asparagus Draining cradle & plate Believed to date from the 1940s, the colours are beautiful & mellow with hues of yellow, green & lavender this is a exceptional centre piece which could be used as purely display or quite at home for everyday use. To the cradle the exterior is highly glazed with a basket weave pattern, there are four triangulated feet which do show signs of wear, there are no chips to the glazed finish. To the inside of the cradle it features asparagus spears with drainage holes. The handles are in the shape of delicately twisted rope. The plate has a high gloss finish, the interior is highly glazed with a basket weave pattern an asparagus spears. There is crazing to the plate commensurate with age & wear. To the base there is a small blemish which does not detract from the piece. The base is stamped with the letter 'P'.
