Museum Selection No.2409 Early BR Locomotive Model
Description
A highly detailed working model, compatible with OO Scale railway sets, captures running number 2409 in an early British Railways livery, complete with the ‘Lion & Wheel’ crest which was an early logo for British Railways after Nationalisation in 1948. The Dean Goods Class of British 060 steam locomotives were first built in 1883, designed by William Dean (18401905). The class went on to see long service at home and abroad through the World Wars; they were, notably, used on the lightlybuilt and winding Welsh lines. Known as the ‘standard goods’ to railwaymen, the final locomotive was withdrawn in 1957.
