The Martine Rose x Nike Shox MR4 Mule “Black” is a collaboration between the London-based fashion designer and Nike on a version of the retro basketball shoe that transforms its design into a slip-on-style shoe. The shoe’s modified design into a clog shoe is inspired by soccer and the sport’s tradition of pre-game attire for players, specifically how men wear tailored suits before games while women wear tracksuits. According to Rose, the aim of the collaboration was to “Recognize a great opportunity to focus on women and soccer and then make a trainer that is almost like a smart shoe. ” The design features a leather construction with a tonal Swoosh on either side.
