Guided by the goal of creating a shoe that would make the athlete as well as the planet better, without sacrificing on quality or performance, Nike created a partially recycled shoe that is being worn at the highest level of competitive basketball in the world.
Specifications
Nike's first performance shoe under the 'Move to Zero' initiative immediately sets a high standard for environmentally conscious basketball products. The shoe contains at least 25% recycled content by weight but still performs top notch. Because the use of materials was minimized, the shoe is very light. The shoe contains a full-length Air Strobel Unit which is made of partially recycled materials, and adds to the light weight of the shoe and cushioning and impact protection. The midsole is made out of Crater Foam, also seen on the Space Hippie, and feels soft underneath the foot, without sacrificing court feel, especially because of the low rise from the ground. The outsole features an always-reliable herringbone traction pattern, which is nothing special in terms of innovation and looks, but one of the most functional features in basketball shoes throughout the years. The thick knit on the shoe brings decent breathability, but great foot lockdown and supports the ankle and foot in a comfortable and reliable manner.
