A bold design decision back in the ‘80s for runners, it went against the status quo of box-fresh white, creating the blueprint for normcore styles to come. As part of the four-shoe line-up is this hairy rendition of the 996, reflecting both Santis’ and New Balance’s love of mixed materials. The muted palette lets the textural pigskin suede and mesh tooling come to the forefront with navy underlays and “N” logos contrasting mesh peeking out at the toe, collar and tongue.
