Description
Wiener GTV Design Chair Black Cane & fibresA great industrial design classic, the famous "No. 14" bistro chair was the first chair to be mass-produced in kit form! It is the best-known and best-selling chair in the history of furniture. It was designed in 1860 by Michael Thonet, founder of the brand, in response to an order placed by the owner of a Viennese café who wanted practical, elegant chairs taking up very little space for his establishment. The No. 14 Chair is composed of six bentwooden parts that can be taken apart for easier transportation. Its design, unfailing solidity, manoeuvrability and value for money secured its success: the order books rapidly became fuller and Thonet decided to mass-produce it. In 1930, he had already sold more than 50 million pieces! More than a century and a half later, the No. 14 bistro chair is still being produced just the same (it is delivered assembled). The No. 14 chair comes with different seats: a full plywooden seat, a perforated plywooden seat or a caned straw seat. Comes in a multitude of colours: please ask us. > Flash sale: special price for a limited time only.
