Mr Fothergrill's Wf-mallow musk These eye-catching large and exotic-looking blooms are very reliable for dry soils and wildlife gardens.  Plants are bushy with elegant, lightly musk-scented leaves which contrast well against the pale pink flowers which have dark pink veins. Native to southern England, these plants can be found along field edges and are loved by beneficial insects. Sow February to October. Water well and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse, or on a cool windowsill. Seedlings appear in 14-42 days. Transplant seedlings 5cm (2') apart for further trays, when large enough to handle. (Always handle by leaf, never by the stem).  Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions ( avoid frosts) before planting out 25 cm (10") apart.
