Description
A single vintage French oyster plate in white glazed porcelain with edging & detailing in smoky grey. Each plate has six wells for oysters & one central well for lemon or condiments. The wells are shaped to hold raw oysters without the shells in order to avoid scratching the porcelain with the heavy jagged shells. There are variations in the shades of grey, some paler, others darker. Diameter: 24.5cm (9). Approximate weight: 618g (1lbs 6oz). The plates are shown in the photographs alongside a larger matching platter (now sold). The backstamp reads 'Orchies, Moulin Des Loups' with the windmill mark.
