Description
The Michelin Road 5 Trail Motorcycle Tyre are the number one choice for wet grip on the road **, and allow the rider to have more confidence in all conditions*, even when 50% worn***.Number one for wet grip on the road **Even when worn 50%, experience exceptional breaking in the wet***Offers dry grip, stability and the best handling versus main competitors ****XST+ Sipes TechnologyACT+ (Adaptive Casing Technology)2CT (2 Compound Technology) and 2CT+The Michelin Road 5 Trail Motorcycle Tyre is a 100% road tyre that benefits simply construction differences specifically to suit large Adventure Bikes with their high centre of gravity, tall suspension and more narrow, taller tyre sizes. The Tyres have been constructed using 2CT and 2CT+. 2CT successfully accomplishes two conflicting ideals - wear resistance in the centre of the tread, and grip on the Shoulders, providing total performance with longevity and grip. This technology has derived from MotoGP, making it possible to use two distinct rubber compounds to achieve what was once thought impossible a combination of the best wet grip and best mileage. 2CT+ has a harder rubber underneath the softer rubber on the Shoulders to give better rigidity at lean, for more stability when cornering, especially under strong acceleration, providing total performance of stability, longevity and grip. The Road 5 Trail Tyres also have XST Evo Technology. The Michelin XST and XST+ Sipes allow for better water evacuation for added safety on wet roads, but their water storage capacity naturally decreases as the tyre wears down. The Michelin XST Evo Sipes are even more efficient, using Evergrip technology to evolve over time / miles to give even wider grooves, increasing the groove ration to preserve the capacity of the Tyre to store and evacuate water.Additional technology used includes ACT+ (Adaptive Casing Technology), meaning that they feature a single ply with an angle close to 90 degrees to reduce rigidity to the minimum in the crown zone whilst ensuring rigidity at the lean thanks to the high reverse angles of the casing piles which overlap in the sidewalls and Shoulder area. They also have an absorbent crown to provide greater stability, whilst rigid sidewalls and Shoulder minimise movement at lean - offering total performance at lean and in a straight line.*Except snow, ice and other extreme conditions** According to internal studies at Fontange in 2017, a Michelin test track under the supervision of an independent witness, comparing Michelin Road 5 tyres with Metzeler Roadtec 01, Dunlop Road Smart 3, Continental Road Attack 3, Pirelli Angel GT and Bridgestone T30 EVO Tyres, in dimensions 120/70 ZR17 (front) and 080/550ZR17 (rear) on Suzuki Bandit 1250.*** According to internal studies at Ladoux, the Michelin centre of excellence under the supervision of an independent witness, comparing Michelin Road 5 tyres used for 2502 miles and at 50% remaining tread depth with new and unworn Michelin Pilot Road 4 Tyres.**** External tests conducted by the MTE Test Centre by Michelin, comparing Michelin Road 5 Tyres with Michelin Pilot Road 4, Metzeler Roadtec 01, Dunlop Road Smart 3, Continental Road Attack 3, Pirelli Angel GT and Bridgestone T30 EVO Tyres, in dimensions 120/70 ZR17 (front) and 180/55 ZR17 (rear) on Kawasaki Z900 giving the best dry performance globally and number 1 for handling.
