The Tabriz belongs to the most beautiful of its class. These carpets established the good reputation of the Persian art of knotting. It is a very popular carpet from one of the best knotting areas of Persia. They often have a large, centrally placed medallion of beautiful floral motifs, a typical oriental motif. Tabriz carpets often have the additional designation Raj. One distinguishes between 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 Raj. The higher the number, the finer and denser the carpet is knotted. Raj is a quality designation and refers to the number of knots on a width of approx. 70 mm. Due to the dense knotting, the carpet is hard-wearing, insensitive and also well suited for extreme use.
