Cast in solid brass, it is a fully functional compass. The lid features a contemporary image of HMS Victory under full sail and there’s a brief biography of the great ship engraved on the underside. Facts include her launch date - 1765, length - 227ft, and firepower - 104 guns. In addition, there’s a list of battle honours from Ushant (1778) to Trafalgar (1805).
