Description
Build a model of the Louvre, complete with 16 LEDs to light the building from within. Originally a 12th century fortress, the Louvre Palace became the residence of the French monarchs in 1546 until it was abandoned as a residence by Louis XIV in 1682 in favour of Versailles; the building continued to be remodelled and display royal artworks until the Musée du Louvre was founded in 1793, opening with an exhibition of 537 paintings. The architecture of the complex reflects the late­17th century remodelling, including the West and East facades; the iconic glass pyramid was added in 1989. 137 sturdy, foam­backed pieces; no glue or scissors required. Model c.20 ½” x 13¼” x 5” when constructed. Requires 4 x AA batteries (not included). 13” x 8 ¾” x 2 ½” boxed. Age 3+.
