Thompson & Morgan Leucothoe axillaris 'Curly Red'
Description
Leucothoe is prized for its glossy evergreen foliage which changes colour with the seasons. Despite its exotic appearance, it is hardy and quite easy to grow in a shady border with acid soil. The shiny green leaves of Leucothoe 'Curly Red' have an unusual backwards curl, and take on hues of deep red in autumn. Leucothoe also works well combined with other evergreen shrubs in complementary shades of green and gold, and as a backdrop to other plants. In soils which are not acidic, Leucothoe is best grown in a large patio container using ericaceous compost. Height: 1.5m (4',9). Spread: 2m (6',5).
