Sarough is one of the most important carpet provenances of Iran. It combines modern living with traditional art. Due to its robust knotting, the Sarough is a hard-wearing carpet with high sound and heat insulation. The wool used is good, shiny and the carpets are robust and hard-wearing. It is very fine and the pile is relatively high. Its design blends in easily with the surroundings and gives a cosy home feeling. The pattern variety of the carpets belongs to the richest and most traditional of the whole Orient and therefore cannot be generalized. They are known for their beautiful medallions, as well as for the well-known patterned Mir pattern.
