This classically designed cushion reproduces "Sight" from the series of Lady and Unicorn tapestries depicting the 5 senses. Imbued with symbolism, the tapestries depict the 5 senses of man, perceived as God’s creation and a sacred facet of humanity. It is based on art produced in Paris in 1500 and is considered one of the greatest works of the middle ages. Red soft furnishings were very expensive in 17thcentury France due to the scarcity of red dye, which would have made this cushion a luxury item.
