Description
Crafted from luxurious lambswool flannel, our flared ladies button swing skirt has a line of covered buttons down one side adding a dash of designer flair.

Originating in 16th century Wales, flannel was conceived by shepherds as a softer, more wearable version of their existing itchy work-wear, before going on to conquer the fashion world. Our flannel is made from soft lambswool, enabling our design team to develop and perfect a warm and practical skirt that gently recalls Edwardian styles. Enjoy teaming with your favourite autumnal knitwear separates or enhance the traditional look with a high-necked blouse.

  • Fully-lined skirt.
  • Gently flared design.
  • Midi length.
  • Concealed zip fastening at the back.
  • Decorative fabric-covered button detail offers a beautiful design without laborious fastening.
  • Seam pockets with pick-stitched detail, applied using a vintage AMF machine.
  • Wide waistband.

  • Flannel, originating in 17th century Wales, was crafted by farmers from carded wool to combat the cold. It was brushed for added softness and insulation. The introduction of the carding mill during the Industrial Revolution catapulted flannel from a local craft to a global staple - even warming Union soldiers in the Civil War. Over time, flannel became a fashion essential, from WWII military gear to the 1990s grunge scene. Today, it represents comfort and elegance, popular in high-end fashion and cosy home wear, valued for its heritage and quality.
