Description
The DX85 W is a flattering ski on any terrain. The Hollowtech 2.0 tip removes unnecessary material from the shovel of the ski to reduce the swing weight and, with the early Rise nose, makes turning easier and smoother. The construction cuts down the overall weight, improving manoeuvrability and boosting confidence all over the hill. The 85mm waist is ideal for a range of conditions and the Hook Free tail means effortless release on a variety of terrain with no grabbing or biting at the end of the turn.Terrain Type & Ability LevelTerrain Type Mainly pistes but down the sides too. It feels very smooth and stable and this makes it a good choice to ski off the edge of runs in the choppier snow and trees or bumps. It’ll hold it’s own on any colour of slope.Skier TypeConfident intermediates and smooth skiing advanced skiers will love the easy-to-handle performance. You can cruise all day long without worrying how you are turning, or switch on the style and cut clean carves down any slope.OverviewShapeThe Fast Grip Shovel is a short shovel in which the contact point and the widest part of the shovel are located far forward. This ensures a faster response at the beginning of the turn. The Fast Grip Tail is designed with a contact point at the widest part of the tail, near the end of the ski. This results in a more aggressive and precise performance at the end of the turn. The 85mm waist is ideal for a piste focussed ski that will work in less demanding off-piste too, quick edge-to-edge and with enough width to float and stay balanced when the snow isn’t groomed. The 14.5m (160cm) radius gives the ski a turny feel for on groomers without affecting the overall stability.Rockerearly Rise at the tip improves float and enables easy handling for on-piste and all-mountain conditions. With standard Camber, the ski centre is clearly elevated and the contact points to the snow are far forward and back. The effective edge is longer and the ski initiates turns more quickly and precisely.CoreMade out of silver fir and beech. each Kästle ski is built with the finest woodcore, manufactured with precision to one-tenth of a millimetre. This allows them to control the weight, responsiveness and dampening characteristics of the ski, resulting in a high-quality, durable product.ConstructionThe semi-cap sandwich sidewall construction combines the durability of a robust cap build with the performance and stability of a sidewall construction. The topsheet is extended down to the ABS sidewall to give the sidewall more protection at the same time as maintaining the torsional rigidity of a classic sidewall construction.Key FeaturesHollowtechKästle’s patented, key technology is unique to ski manufacturing. By removing unneeded layers in the front of the ski, the ski is made lighter. This results in several advantages: the ski becomes up to 30 % damper, the ski feels more stable, edge-grip is more powerful, steering is more precise and the overall weight is reduced.VogueOne thing all Vogue women models have in common is maximum performance for women. The ski flex and binding mount points are designed specifically for women and the construction is lighter and more comfortable all round. And when it comes to the styling, that’s also designed by women, for women.eB tester’s comments: Rosy (Bristol) The pistes were icy and the light was flat, but I still loved them. They were so forgiving on any technical mistakes and they had plenty of power to charge around. I want them!Technical SpecificationsSize (cm)Tip Width (mm)Waist Width (mm)Tail Width (mm)Radius (m)Weight (g)1521268510912.515451601268510914.516281681268510916.51710General InformationSkier Ability: Intermediate/AdvancedTerrain Type: All Mountain Rocker: Tip RockerRadius: MediumBase: SinteredBindings: Integrated, K10 SLR GWDIN: 3 - 10Construction: Semi SidewallCore: WoodDemo: YesSizing Description: Nose level to forehead height is ideal, but longer length is important if there is a bigger rocker or you’re spending more time off piste where the extra stability and float a larger size provides will be beneficial.
