The KNEX Education Amusement Park Experience Set provides an opportunity to combine real-world applications with STEM concepts in a classroom environment. Using these materials, students will be engaged and energised as they experience the interrelationships and further their knowledge and understanding of the science, technology, engineering and math concepts associated with such rides and structures. This 2264 knex piece set builds 13 classic amusement park rides including a roller coaster, carousel, ferris wheel, pirate ship, scrambler, wing and boom rides, plus ramps and half pipes. The set allows up to 6-8 student to work together and comes with student instruction booklet, teacher guide and lesson plans. The teachers guide offers a teaching approach that challenges students to take an active role in constructing their own knowledge by engaging in hands-on, inquiry-based learning, and by interacting and collaborating with other students while discussing ideas and concepts, informs the activities associated with the knex education amusement park set. Key concepts explored in the set include: the relationship between speed, distance and time, mass and speed, mass motion and energy loss, transfer of energy, slope as a rate of change, displacement and the period of a pendulum swing.
