Blurring the lines between art and craft, we are delighted to launch a new limited-edition collection in collaboration with South London based visual arts organisation Intoart for London Craft Week 2023. For over 20 years, Intoart has championed its founding vision for 'people with learning disabilities to be visible, equal, and established artists and designers'. For nearly 240 years, Derbyshire-based John Smedley has been producing the world's finest knitwear and is heralded the world over for its dedication to quality, British craftsmanship, and luxury fibres. This May, we come together for a second time, following a successful partnership in 2018. Crafted from ultra-fine John Smedley's Sea Island Cotton, this bespoke t-shirt features a specially commissioned screen print by Mawuena Kattah, whose work brings people and pattern together in complex, vibrant compositions. Her practice draws upon an extensive personal archive of family photographs taken in Ghana, her love of African Batik fabrics, and studio photographs of family taken in London.
