Description
Crazily crunchy crescents of sweet onion and zingy spices. Howdah's vegan-friendly Onion Bhaji snacks are crisp half-moons of semolina, gram and rice flour licked with turmeric, mango powder and red chilli. That kick in the tail makes them the perfect nibble with a glass of ice-cold beer. As the elephant on the bag suggests, this is not a snack you're gonna forget in a hurry, and neither will the children you're helping… Although not something you often see around the streets of the United Kingdom, a 'howdah' is a carriage used for carrying people on the back of an elephant. These ornate seats, often embellished with decorative gemstones and precious metals, may have been the inspiration for pubs across the land and also the famous London intersection Elephant and Castle. Howdah were often used in war or as a show of strength. Howdah and their authentic Indian snacks fight against poverty; rather than finding strength by breaking the back of an elephant, they do it through working together. That's why, for every bag of their exotic vegan nibbles purchased, Howdah provides a free and nutritious school lunch for a child in India who cannot afford one. They do this in partnership with the charity Akshaya Patra, who have already served up over three billion meals already and counting. By encouraging malnourished children to go to school, Howdah are helping to change their futures and those of their families. So a handful of "the snack that gives back", lends a helping hand to those in need. Howdah you say no to that? £2.17 per 100.00g
