Engineered Mesh Upper
The Clifton 8 features a new engineered, ultra-light mesh upper that is airy and smooth. The upper is seamless on the outside for a sleek look and clean silhouette and only has a few seams on the inside. The mesh wraps each foot in breathable comfort, allowing air to fully permeate the entire upper. Although lightweight, this mesh upper remains resilient enough for you to be able to put it through any workout. Furthermore, this construction provides a constant supply of fresh, cool air while simultaneously forcing out hot, muggy air that resides within the shoes during intense activity. Additionally, the upper offers reinforced eyelets for durability when tightening the laces. This construction allows you to get a personalised fit as well as prevents any in-shoe slipping from occurring. When the laces are tightened the upper wraps around the top of the foot cradling it for additional comfort as well as providing a premium fit. The Clifton 8 features a flared heel collar and refined Achilles pull tab. The flared shape keeps the collar off the Achilles to mitigate any rubbing or chafing, and also acts like a heel tab to easily remove the shoe. The heel cup employs an internal heel counter for a secure fit, and extra padding around the collar teamed with an ultra-plush tongue boost comfort.
Full EVA MidsoleEarly-stage Meta-Rocker geometry is applied in the midsole to increase running efficiency. Meta-Rocker midsole geometry is specifically designed with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole to create a unique fulcrum effect, like a rocking chair to encourage a guided gait cycle. This design supports a runner's natural form while promoting an efficient, smooth roll from initial impact to toe-off. In the Clifton 8, the transition zone is placed behind the metatarsal heads; this helps create a smoother ride and a faster transition to the forefoot. A full-length platform of EVA resides underfoot for lightweight, responsive cushioning. Generous, soft, and durable, it spares your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces whilst adding an energetic response with each step. A moderate heel bevel helps to promote a smooth heel-to-toe transition; it enhances ground contact and unites with flat-waisted geometry to stabilise and support every stride.
Grippy OutsoleA grippy outsole with a full ground contact design completes the Clifton 8. Strategic hi-abrasion rubber zones adorn this; increasing the shoe's durability, reducing its weight, and employing an updated lug pattern to supply enhanced traction on every road surface.
