THE CREATION The Violette Volynka Eau de Toilette from the Hermessence collection is an elegant, unexpected encounter: between masculine and feminine, between two unique materials which mirror each other like two alter egos. I opted for Volynka leather top notes. Its scent is so strong that I wanted to pull it in the opposite direction by pairing it with a delicate flower: violets. Christine Nagel, Hermès perfumer. OLFACTORY NOTES A blend of intensity and sweetness, the Violette Volynka Eau de Toilette promises a perfect balance between the strength of character of Volynka leather and the subtle, powdery noted of violet. THE OBJECT The Violette Volynka Eau de Toilette bottle is pulled into the spotlight by the radiant, powerful purple of its leather cap and bottle. THE HERMES DETAIL Boasting a striated grain, brown-red shade and burnt wood scent, Volynka leather tell the story of vegetable tanning. Incredibly durable, it perpetuates age-old techniques: the grinding of oak bark or soaking in birch bark solutions. Forgotten for many years, this know-how was revitalized in 2017 thanks to the talent of Hermès artisans and hides found in the hold of a shipwreck.
