Description
The shape and construction of the Head e-Rally has a distinct place in the always impressive Supershape line-up. As the Titan got wider the Rally slipped into the role of the piste ski that remains unflappable when the conditions get rough. A bigger waist and slightly longer radius than piste focussed skis, plus the dampening of the innovative EMC, mean it is a carving machine on piste and totally stable if the snow isn't perfect. Terrain Type & Ability Level Terrain Type The e-Rally is ideal for skiers who don't want to lose any piste performance whilst still being able to spend time around the sides and in the trees, maybe even chasing fresh snow. Plus, it's not often that the pistes are perfectly groomed. Skier Type Good skiers with decent technique who enjoy the thrill of a performance ski but don't want the hassle of a race ski. It will happily cruise all day or you can push it and try to keep up with the racers. Overview Shape The e-Rally is a bit wider in the waist and has a slightly longer radius than earlier models, a change that came in 2 seasons ago. This has noticeably improved stability without affecting how well it skis on trails and firm snow. The contact points are set right in the tip and tail so the effective edge is long, helping with the grip and the feel of immediate response when turning. Rocker ERA 3.0 S on the Supershapes uses a speed rocker which, put simply, means the ski has tip rocker and some smart tip design. There is plenty of camber along the skis length for rebound and energy. A targeted rocker at the tip with low rise, progressive radius and vibration absorbing fibres results in superior steering and less angulation is required for immediate response and a smoother ride. Core Vertically laminated wood with Graphene and twin Titanal layers. This mix of lightweight but strong materials produces a ski with the most extreme agility and thrilling responsiveness for ultimate performance. Graphene being so light means that thicker and wider Titanal sheets can be used, covering the entirety of the ski to ensure a more reactive and powerful ride. Graphene is the thinnest and lightest element ever discovered by mankind. It is also the strongest material on the planet, stronger than diamond and 300 times stronger than steel, all in the thickness of one atom. By using it in the construction Head can reduce weight and increase strength of the ski. Construction Head's Worldcup Sandwich Cap Construction is developed with the most sophistacted materials known to man and uses tried and test techniques. The sidewall delivers energy to ski edge precisely for the best grip; the mini cap on top adds durability. Graphene is the thinnest and lightest element ever discovered by mankind. Key Features Protector Thanks to its Full Heel Release (FHR), vertical and lateral, the Head s Protector binding can reduce the risk of injuries for both the knee and the lower leg. The reduced release values in forward and especially in backward twisting falls assure less stress for your knees and safer skiing. Conventional bindings offer only vertical release at the heel. Protector bindings offer Full Heel Release (FHR) - releasing 180 degrees (laterally and vertically). 7mm of bi-lateral movement absorbs all impacts on the binding and avoids pre-releases. The 30 degrees rotation is then only initiated when the loads are too high and the ski boot is released. EMC Energy Management Circuit, the world's only electronic ski dampening system. When the ski bends and vibrates, it takes the kinetic energy in the ski and transfers it into electrical energy, which is then used to absorb negative vibrations for a more stable experience. Smooth skiing and exceptional edge grip, whatever the conditions. ERA 3.0 ERA 3.0 is a combination of technologies, shape and geometry using a targeted rocker at the tip with low rise, a progressive radius and vibration absorbing fibres. The rocker improves steering and enhances soft snow versatility. The progressive radius at the tip means that even though there is rocker, less angulation is required to get full edge contact, resulting in better grip. Intellifibers in the tip dampen vibrations for a smoother ride. EB tester’s comments: Toby (Covent Garden) All the performance of the other e-Supershape skis but with a little extra width to help in slightly choppy snow conditions.
