Description
The Real Joy is sure to do well thanks to the blend of easy handling and fun performance. It's a piste ski for mixing up the speeds and the slopes; simple to ski when the energy levels drop, fast and responsive when the mood takes you. The light construction of wood core and Graphene keeps the weight down but also makes it lively. The narrow waist of 73mm and short radius provide quick tums with eRA 3.0 ensuring hassle-free control.Terrain Type & Ability LevelTerrain Type Piste all the way, any colour, though the steepest, firmest black runs aren't going to be skied at full speed.Skier TypeDedicated piste skiers, from intermediate to lighter advanced level. The ski has an easy energy and carves clean turns but doesn't have to lock in so it is comfortable to allow some skid at the start or end of the turn.OverviewShapeeverything about the Real Joy screams turning. The radius is a tight 10.9m (at 158cm), and the waist comes in at 73mm so it will feel quick going from edge to edge, without being so narrow that it starts feeling twitchy. The tips and tails aren't too pronounced, meaning they add an element of forgiveness to the piste focused design.RockerAllride Rocker uses tip rocker and camber underfoot; perfect for skiers who feel comfortable on any slopes. It enables superior steering and increases floatation. The camber ensures grip and precision on hard snow.CoreA vertically laminated wood core has a composite sock around it. This combination results in good vibration control, no excess weight and a smooth ride that suits ambitious skiers who don't want all out power.ConstructionSuperlite Power Sidewall Jacket Construction is a mouthful, but it gives a lot of clues to what it does and how it's made. A cap construction enhances durability and sits on top of ABS Sidewalls which provide precise energy transmission. As well as the wood composite core, a layer of Graphene is used to keep the ski light but also increase the strength.Key FeatureseRA 3.0eRA 3.0 is a combination of technologies, shape and geometry using a targeted rocker at the tip with low rise, a progressive radius and vibration absorbing fibres. The rocker improves steering and enhances soft snow versatility. The progressive radius at the tip means that even though there is rocker, less angulation is required to get full edge contact, resulting in better grip. Intellifibers in the tip dampen vibrations for a smoother ride.GrapheneGraphene is the thinnest and lightest element ever discovered by mankind. It is also the strongest material on the planet, stronger than diamond and 300 times stronger than steel, all in the thickness of one atom. By using it in the construction Head can reduce weight and increase strength of the ski.eB tester’s comments: Ailsa (Covent Garden) For an intermediate ski I was really impressed at how well it skied, it felt super safe and easy to handle but when I pushed it, it coped really well at speed.Technical SpecificationsSize (cm)Tip Width (mm)Waist Width (mm)Tail Width (mm)Radius (m)Weight (g)148130731079.314601531307310710.115311581307310710.916701631307310711.71773General InformationSkier Ability: Intermediate/AdvancedTerrain Type: PisteRocker: Tip RockerRadius: ShortBase: SinteredBindings: Integrated, Joy 9 GW SLRDIN: 3 - 10Construction: Full SidewallCore: Wood, Composite, GrapheneDemo: YesSizing Description: Chin to nose height is ideal for quick responses and easy handling.
