Description
Discreetly designed Minneapolis wall light with cable and switch The Minneapolis wall light is part of a series of pendant, table, floor and wall lights created by the Danish design studio Friis & Moltke, founded in 1955. It was originally designed in 1984 for the Scanticon Hotel and Conference Centre in Minneapolis, which later became Crown Plaza, and is visually reminiscent of Japanese design with its clean lines. The wall light consists of a round wall mount with an arm that extends far into the room, to which a large metal shade is attached. The width of the lampshade creates a large area of light diffusion in the surroundings. Minneapolis is ideal for effective additional lighting in living spaces and for furnishing hotel rooms. The renowned architecture firm Friis & Moltke is responsible for the design of many well-known buildings in Denmark and other countries, such as aalborg Stadium, Grønnevang Church in Hillerød and the Scandinavian Centre in Aarhus, as well as the harbour in Wismar (Germany), the Danish Embassy in Ankara (Turkey) and the Strømme Senter in Kristiansand in Norway. The Minneapolis luminaire series is manufactured to a high quality by the Danish company Frandsen, which uses traditional craftsmanship in production without losing sight of industrial function or sustainability aspects.
