Description
Sculptural floor lamp Orbital with differently shaped glass diffusersThe floor lamp Orbital is an icon of Italian lighting design and was designed by Ferruccio Laviani in 1992. It consists of a three-legged frame made of sheet metal that supports the painted metal rod in the center. From this protrude five short arms on which diffusers made of industrial glass are found. Each of these five elements is quite individual and irregularly shaped. As soon as the luminaire is switched on, the play of light from the five glass elements looks like a mosaic. Their inner side is designed glossy to reflect the light in the best possible way. The outside, on the other hand, is frosted to delicately reflect the color and showcase the individual shapes. But even when switched off, Orbital is an imposing light source that directly attracts attention when entering the room. With its design, the floor lamp is reminiscent of a sculpture or a painting and adds that certain something to any environment. The lamp is switched on and off via the foot switch integrated on the cable. The designer and architect Ferruccio Laviani has already worked with companies from the interior design and fashion sector, among others. He also designs showrooms, exhibitions and events around the world. Particularly striking is his contemporary style combined with a high recognition value. With Orbital, he succeeded in entering the field of lighting design. Today, the floor lamp is one of the most famous products of the Italian company Foscarini.
