Description
The new CT 2.0 carries on the tradition of being a high-performance all-terrain freestyle ski that feels playful and fun but has the stability to ski smoothly in any condition. The CT Signature design dials in the flex, shape and stance exactly how Candide envisages them, creating a ski that will pivot, carve, slash, butter, smear and pop anywhere on the mountain. Our Freestyle Ski of the Year. Terrain Type & Ability LevelTerrain Type You can take the CT 2.0 pretty much anywhere, from park to powder with pistes and all mountain thrown in. It'll carve shapes on firm snow even at high-speed, but do remember it's a wide ski with rocker – features that make it very comfortable in fresh snow. The shape is well suited to riding all-terrain and the playful performance encourages you to see the mountain like Candide, looking for side hits and alternative routes.Skier TypeAimed at advanced and expert all terrain freestyle skiers. But as it's not too tricky to ski, good intermediates, who are progressing well, could be looking at it too. The park doesn't need to be top of the list and freestyle skills don't have to be pro-level, though it will obviously handle that with ease. It's as much about having the mindset to pop lips, butter rollers and whip effortlessly between turns, all over the mountain.OverviewShapeThis CT 2.0 was updated last season with slightly altered dimensions with a few mm off the tip and tail width, creating a slightly longer radius and improvements in stability. It's a directional twin meaning it's built to charge as well as ski switch, with the tail only slightly narrower than the tip. 102mm in the waist is the sweetspot for an all-condition freestyle ski. It's wider than average park skis but still nimble, and narrower than powder models whilst retaining plenty of float that wider models offer. The elliptic Radius Sidecut nicely balances the need to carve turns by using a shorter radius in the tip and tail with a longer radius creating a straighter section underfoot for the stability required in rougher snow. RockerTip and Tail Rocker uses traditional camber underfoot for response and good edge grip, with rocker at the tip and tail to improve manoeuvrability by aiding turn initiation and completion. CoreFull wood core blends harder beech wood and lighter poplar to create a lively, durable and relatively light core. Ideal for a ski that wants to feel poppy and responsive while remaining tough. A Titanal / Rubber Stomp Pad is placed underfoot for additional strength, as well as protecting the wood core against heavy duty impact on rails, the Titanal and rubber adds stability and vibration.ConstructionFull Strength Sidewalls place strips of protective material along the sides of each core, between the edge and the topsheet. This provides the best possible edge hold and stability when the ski is engaged in a turn, as well as protecting the woodcore, edges and topsheet from impact and outside damage. On top of this is an Anti-Chip Micro-Cap, a hybrid of a full strength, sandwich sidewall construction fused with a lightweight, durable cap construction. With Micro-Cap, the sandwich construction provides awesome edge hold and torsional stability, while the ski's topsheet wraps around and meets the sidewall protecting the fragile join that can be prone to chipping.Key FeaturesCT Signature Shape, Flex and StanceDesigned by the man himself, Candide Thovex, and the very same skis that he rides straight out of the wrapper. Based on the CT 5.0, the shape is retro-fitted to the narrower models in the range. SIGNATURe SHAPe: Moderately tapered tips and tails are complemented by an elliptical Radius sidecut for efficient, precise handling and carving. A combination of generous rocker and modest camber results in a wonderfully playful character, injecting new energy into an otherwise routine day on the mountain.  SIGNATURe FLeX: Candide is never not tinkering, tweaking, learning, improving. He's adamant that bigger rocker is best complemented by solid, stiffer tips and tails to help settle the skis and power through variable snow. Additionally, the stiff tips absorb more vibration when skiers touch down after going airborne. Just add a touch more flex under foot and it allows the skis to load up and POP on request. Welcome to the Candide Thovex Signature Flex. SIGNATURe STANCe: The narrowest spot on the ski is the centre of the radius, and it happens to be the most intuitive place from which to initiate pivoting of the funkfreaky-freestyle variety. Mounting here also works wonders for carving and popping off the back and front of your skis.XL 2.5mm edgesThicker edges mean increased durability and impact resistance, crucial for a ski that is built to test the rule book. elliptic Radius Sidecutelliptical Radius Sidecut is made up of a longer radius underfoot and shorter radii in the tip and tail of the ski. The long radius underfoot means you can pivot faster and easier, while a shorter radius in the tip and tail result in easier turn initiation. This sidecut allows for a wide variety of turns lengths, angles and mounting positions.eB tester’s comments: Luke (Buying Team) The 2.0 ensures that skiing is fun. It's poppy, lively and very good at making you think you're better than you are. Great in softer snow and on natural jumps, and not too wide that it's a drag when you're back on groomers.Technical SpecificationsSize (cm)Tip Width (mm)Waist Width (mm)Tail Width (mm)Radius (m)Weight (g)178131102127191800183131102127201880188131102127211950General InformationSkier Ability: Advanced/expertTerrain Type: Freestyle Rocker: Tip/Tail RockerRadius: LongBase: SinteredBindings: Ski sold flatDIN: n/aConstruction: Mini Cap Full SidewallCore: Wood Demo: NoSizing Description: eye level for the maximum ease of spinning and rail tricks, but you need to go bigger for extra stability or speed and for all mountain versatility, especially important on the wider models that are designed to spend more time away from the park.
