It tells the story of a teenage journalist writing for Rolling Stone magazine in the early 1970s, his touring with the fictitious rock band Stillwater, & his efforts to get his first cover story published. The film is semi-autobiographical, as Crowe himself was a teenage writer for Rolling Stone. Set in 1973, Almost Famous chronicles the funny & often poignant coming of age of 15-year-old William, an unabashed music fan who is inspired by the seminal bands of the time.
