A fabulous vintage Cased set of Priestley & Moore Silver Plated High Quality Set of 6 Signed Dessert Table Spoons in the Traditional Old English pattern. The spoons are all the same size & quality. Most are still wrapped in the original tissue wrapping & are in excellent bright shiny silver condition. Feel heavy & good quality. great to add these to a collection of vintage cutlery. All are marked with Priestley & Moore Ltd & EPNS Super A1. The Super A1 indicates that the very best silver plate was used for these spoons. The Silver plate Priestley & Moore serving spoons are in excellent vintage condition with no rust, tarnish or dents. The spoons are remarkably shiny & new looking given their great age. No signs of wear on the underside where the base of the spoon rests on the table. Seem to have hardly been used. Probably kept in a drawer. Need to come out & be used. The silver EPNS spoons are each 18.5 cm (7 1/4 in) long & 4 cm (1 5/8 in) at the widest part of the spoon. The case set weighs 435 g (15.3 oz). Four of the spoons also marked with Made in England, 14 DWTS Doz & the other Two are also marked with Sheffield, England & Valiant Plate. Valiant Plate was often used by Priestley & Moore to mark their cutlery. The silver used was high quality as indicated by 14 DWTS DOZ, which implies that 14 pennyweights of pure silver was used to plate each dozen pieces. 1 pennyweight is equal to 1.56 grams. The original cardboard box with its wonderful vintage red, cream & gold branding says EPNS A1, Primate Plate, Priestley & Moore tableware, Priestley & Moore Ltd, Sheffield & London, England, 20 years guarantee. The end of the lid is marked with 6 Dessert Spoons, Old English BF 504. The Priestley & Moore large Spoon silverware cutlery was made in Sheffield England. The table spoons could also be used serving spoons /Dessert / tablespoons. Perfect addition to your vintage cutlery sets & made for using daily - don't keep for best like they used to!
