A gorgeous & useful set of Pimpernel vintage 8 piece cork backed acrylic table mats or placemats featuring different English Villages in the Original Box. The 8 Mats are made from a vintage acrylic product called celluware. c1980s The vintage genuine Pimpernel box with its bright vintage red & white branding Says Pimpernel, Acrylic, 6 + 2 Traditional PlaceMats. English Villages on the side of the box. The side also has golden sticker saying Celluware Ltd Golden Jubilee 1933 to 1983 & a faint sticker saying English Villages. Som mats have the pimpernel red & gold sticker on the back. Vintage placemats are much better quality than those made today & will last a lifetime if properly cared for. Each of the 6 placemats measures 22 x 19.5 cm (8 3/4 x 7 3/4 in). The two larger serving mats are 30.5 x 23 cm (12 x 9 in). The box is slightly bigger. The boxed set is heavy & weighs 1445 g (3 lb 2.8 oz). The back of the box has information on the product including Acrylic Placemats are extremely hard wearing. They will resist all reasonable food & beverage stains. They will withstand heat of 100oC/212oF. Pimpernel is the registered trademark of Celluware Ltd. The Mats were made in the UK. Pimpernel are tablemat specialists & this set of placemats is in excellent vintage condition with very few signs of wear. Probably kept for best. The box is also in good vintage condition with some scuffing & broken corners mended with sellotape. The set does not appear to have been used & this is a pre loved item. Please view photos. The set of 8 cork-backed table mats each depicts a different English Villages taken from beautiful paintings. The name of the village is underneath together with the county. The images are surrounded by a border of cream & gold gilt. The English Villages featured on the 6 placemats are Great Ayton in Yorkshire, Castle Combe in Wiltshire, Chilham in Kent, Woolpit in Suffolk, Troutbeck in Westmoreland & Welford-on-Avon in Warwickshire. The two larger serving mats feature Chilham in Kent & Troutbeck in Westmoreland. A great Retro addition to your kitchen, sitting or living room to protect surfaces.
