This is a really interesting & strikingly beautiful pendant in matt gold painted metal with abstract shapes of black, bright red, lime green & orange enamel, threaded onto a gold-plated chain with a toggle & ring clasp. The black enamel is totally plain, but smooth & very glossy. The red, green & orange sections have fine concentric lines that follow the shapes, rather like the contour lines on a map. The result is quite stunning !! The pendant is suspended on a gold-plated chain which measures 44.5cms long with the toggle clasp to close. The pendant itself measures 3.8cms wide x 4.5cms high. in inches this is 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 Most commercially produced jewellery from the 1980s was gold-plated, but this one has been painted in matt-gold paint over a base metal, & the result is very pretty indeed. The duller matt finish was very popular during the later 1980s & many high street chains produced matt finish jewellery. No signature on this anywhere, & it doesn't suggest itself as being a commercially made for one of our British High St. chains, either, so I rather think this may be a handmade artisan creation, perhaps for a jewellery stall at a festival possibly ? This would look great with any smart or dressy outfits, particularly for a party or special date - imagine this with a black jacket & a bright top like my orange jumper in the photos.
