This is a handsome large antique chest of drawers which dates to the 19th century, it is a substantial & evocative looking piece which will make a statement in any room. The chest is made of mahogany & mixed woods & is fairly solid & well made. It is ideal for a bedroom, a useful storage piece for clothes & bedding. The chest is elegantly styled, the bow front fitted with an arrangement of five drawers which are all finished with turned wooden handles painted to look like coromandel wood. The drawers have their original locks but sadly the key has been lost somewhere in time. The chest is set on very large bulbous turned feet. I have hand painted this piece in my own mix of black water based paint before distressing the paintwork well for an aged look. The finish has been glazed to give an ebonized look. CONDITION The chest is in good structural condition with many cosmetic marks of age & use. The drawer interiors are in clean condition & the drawers run fairly well. There have been some internal repairs to the body of the chest & there are old wood worm holes here & there. The top left hand drawer is missing its lock. MEASUREMENTS height-117.5cms width-109.5cms depth - 52.5cms The measurements are taken at the widest points.
