What is it? Pride hand tie dyed 100% cotton tote bag measuring 35cm X 32cm & the handles are approx 28cm. The tote is created in a swirl pattern with black lines in-between the swirls. Perfect accessory for LQBTQ+ community & allies for showing their Pride. How is it created? Item Preparation The first & most important step is that the clothing to be dyed needs to be washed on a 30 degree cycle. All clothing comes with a sizing chemical that repels the dye so this is required to ensure the item retains the dye colour. Once washed it is then soaked in soda ash for around 15 minutes which aids the dye to bond with the Cotton fibres. The final step in prepping the clothing is to then put it on a spin cycle to ring out the excess water from the previous two steps. The clothing is now ready to be tied & dyed. Tie Technique This item was tied in a standard tie dye method. To create the spiral, the item is tightly twisted along the length until it is coiled into a spiral form. The item is then bound into place using elastic bands. For the Pride designs the item is bound into 6 sections so there is 1 per colour as per standard Pride rainbow. Dye Technique For this item we used liquid dyes whereby dye powder is mixed in a bottle with water. Then for each section the chosen liquid dye colour is applied to the front of the bag for that section fully ensuring no white bits remain. On the back of the bag this is fully dyed black. Once the item is dyed in the colour scheme as required it is then wrapped fully in cling film & left for 24 hours on a rack next to a hot radiator. This allows the dyes to fully bind with the cotton fibres & the heat results in a more vibrant colour on the end product. Afterwards the clothing is rinsed out in the sink then re-washed on another 30 degree cycle to remove any excess dye. All dyes used on our products are Vegan. Our unique design by VeEco Gifts are custom hand-made to order so no 2 garments will be identical. Due to the nature of tie dye, patterns/colours may vary. Customisable All our items can be fully customised to your chosen colours if you wish to opt to a different colour scheme than that shown in the photo. For this item Scarlett Red, Citrus Yellow, Deep Orange, New Emerald Green, Navy & Blue Violet dye was used in the Pride scheme colour. Our available colours are shown in the photos, for any amendments please note this in the personalisation box. Otherwise we will assume you wish the item to be created in Pride colour scheme. Care instructions Machine washable - Wash at 30o separately for the first few washes to ensure any loose dye does not leak onto other clothes Delivery Instructions Our turn around time for our tie dye products is 1 - 2 weeks.
