Gorgeous Mexican amber blown glass imprisoned goblets. Set of 4. These Mcm, brutalist, amber glasses are caged with brass metal. They are heavy, rustic & have a Medieval feel. Imprisoned Glass, sometimes known as caged glass is made by welding brass metal (with diamond, square, or circle cut outs) into cylinders & hand blowing molten glass from broken bottles into the cylinder so it bulges through the openings. There are several well known Mexican glass masters, such as Camilo Avalos of Avalos Glassworks or Felipe Derflingher for Feders, who created blown caged glasses. This set is unmarked so I am unsure if they were created by either. What I do know is that they are fabulous, gorgeous & incredibly unique. The glasses are all handmade & therefore not uniform. The metal has some surface streaking, & the glass has bubbles & inconsistencies but is in beautiful vintage condition. Rustic & rare beauties. See photos & video.
