A lead free porcelain glaze is used in their creation. All of my pottery is food, dishwasher, & microwave safe. This cup is made of porcelain & is glazed by hand. Because it is fired at high temperature, the glaze is smooth & the density is higher. So when you finish your coffee, it's very easy to clean.
