A pair of vintage ice skates from the 1950s made in white leather. The skates come with their original blade guards. The skate blades are made by John Wilson of Sheffield. John Wilson is a noted manufacturer of ice skating blades & his skates have been worn by many competition figure skates. The particular blades on these skates are the ‘Mercurio’ brand & include toe picks, a feature of skate blades used by figure skaters. Inside the shoe of the skate there is a stamp saying Queen's Ice Club, Bayswater which is a skating rink that has been around since 1930. These lovely skates are in good vintage condition but have clearly been worn & used. They could possibly still be used for skating but since we are not skaters ourselves we can’t be sure how safe or durable they are. One of the tongues has come loose & may need to be stitched back in place. Please check photos carefully to ensure you are happy with the vintage condition. More commonly these skates are used for holiday decor. They are very attractive decorative or collectors items & look fabulous just hanging on a wall or on the front of a door.
