Gorgeous Royal Tichelaar Makkum Covered Vase by famous Koninklijke Tichelaar in Makkum, Holland, ca 50's. This beautiful large vase is shaped as a ribbed cocoon & hand painted with a polychrome Rococo style medallion on black tin glazed background. The domed octagonal cover features a black Foo Dog / or Lion & hand painted with floral decorations. Wonderful mid century vase to add to home decor. Royal Makkum is a Dutch pottery company based in Makkum, est. in 1572. That's why Royal Tichelaar Makkum is regarded to be the oldest company in the Netherlands. Vase is in excellent condition. Signed Makkum Makkum Tichelaar mark, used ca 1940s - 1960s.
