Handmade Christmas snowflake ornament designed using vintage & new Czech glass gold & copper beads. Comes ready to hang. Gablonz ornaments were produced in the region of Jablonec nad Nisaunow the Czech Republicstarting in the middle of the 19th century. They were originally designed as flat, two-dimensional ornaments, often designed with tails of beads hanging from the lower edge with different types of silver or gold-lined beads in countless variations of color, size, patterns & transparency. Thereafter, three dimensional designs were created, often simulating towers, carousels, snowflakes, musical Instruments, mode of transportation, insects inc. For generations, these Czech beaded glass ornaments have captivated the imaginations & hearts of both young & old. Their lightweight, diverse forms permit hanging on smaller, more delicate branches without losing their presence & their intricate & often lively, kinetic structures endlessly please. in the early 1900's the United States imported Czech glass ornaments. The Americans loved the enchanting way the ornaments swayed on their Christmas tree branches & the Czech cottage industry greatly expanded to meet the American demand for their beaded glass Christmas ornaments.
