This is a wood vase made from a Texas grown Live Oak tree. This vase is hand turned & hand finished with This is a wood vase made from a Texas grown Live Oak tree. This piece is full of natural character (not flaws) found in this old Texas oak. I have added a red overall stain with green accents to enhance the grain & natural features. Several coats of semi-gloss polyurethane finish were applied & finally buffed to a warm sheen. As an artist & student of art history, the shapes that materialize as I am working on the lathe come from images of classic Greek & Roman as well as ancient Chinese & Japanese pottery. There is also the influence of modern abstract sculpture. This is a unique one-of-a-kind vase like no other. This vase will be a great asset to any bookcase, mantel or tabletop as part of your home or office dcor. This vase is meant only for these decorative uses, it is not designed to hold water & should not be used as a vase for live flowers. To clean just dust with a damp cloth, no chemical cleaners & do not immerse in water to clean. 6 1/4 H x 5 1/2 in diameter. Signed, dated & numbered on bottom.
