This vintage tall tabletop lamp base is made from bronzed copper over cast brass. It's a very heavy, sturdy base that could support a large or weighty shade. It would look equally good with an old-fashioned exposed light bulb & no shade. I don't think it's very old - perhaps c.1980s-1990s. It will need to be rewired to conform with modern safety regulations. I haven't had it re-wired as different countries have different electrical requirements but you can buy lamp wiring kits for a few £/$ on the internet, or (UK buyers) an electric suppliers should be able to PAT test it & fit a new plug & bulb holder. This lamp base is in a good used condition with just a few minor surface blemishes. Please look closely at all the photos as they form part of the item description.
