Amazing original vintage Hornsea salt storage canister with wooden lid. Designed by John Clappison, the Heirloom pattern was launched in 1967 using a new printing technique which screen-printed a resist medium on to the biscuit wares before glazing, so that the glaze covered the unprinted parts of the design, creating contrasting semi-matt areas. The thicker glaze created a relief effect that enhanced the design. Date stamped 1975 with makers mark to base. Made in England. Perfect addition to any retro kitchen!
