RARE 1950's VINTAGE THEATRE LIGHT FULLY RESTORED FLOOR LAMP FOR HOME OR OFFICE. This iconic example of British design was made the strand lighting company in their covent garden works in London's west end. This strand profile spotlight - also known as the 'baby spot' was the one of the work horses of the theatre industry from the 1950's to the 1980's. Regrettably most have now been lost or destroyed & the survivors represent rare examples of an original British industrial design classic. We were very lucky to acquire a few of these lights directly from the Piccadilly Theatre, West End, London. They were used for many years, lighting up famous west end theatre performances. The light has been superbly engineered, & features a die cast ventilated body, 360 degree rotation, Iconic circular design & an internal reflector. The spot light has been professionally polished to a bright mirror finish by a specialist British company that provides polishing for Rolls-Royce. The finish is to an extremely high standard. This light also has an original removable Barn door system fitted on the front, used to direct the light beam, the barn doors have also been highly polished & looks fabulous. We take pride in the finished result as the light represents a unique & rare piece of design history. Theatre light dimensions: Length 27cms, Width 26cms, Height 29cms The Light gives a wide beam spread for feature / architectural lighting & showing specific objects such as a work of art. The Light is presented on a handmade classic wooden tripod. The tripod features height adjustable legs with rich detailed fittings. The height range is adjustable from 75cm to 170cm & is ideal for all floor types. The light has been professionally re-wired with 3 core quality silk braded vintage style lighting flex & fitted with a high quality CE approved inline foot dimmer switch. The dimmer switch allows for the light to be turned on or off with the press of a button, or to change the brightness from a warm glow to bright spot light with the sliding control. The dimmer also features a night location neon indicator. The light has been converted for home or office use & takes regular household light bulbs up to 100 watts, we also had a deluxe vintage style Bakelite plug fitted (BS1363/A). This light has been fully pat tested by a certified tester for electrical safety & meets with the current British safety requirements. The light is a rare & original British Industrial design classic, passionately restored & looking for a new home. The light looks great in modern or period homes or for the finishing touch in an executive office. This is an iconic statement piece that will appreciate in value over time.
