G Plan Fresco Teak Mid Century Lower Bookcase with Angelica Green Base & Gold Coloured Hairpin Legs This item is from the Fresco range. The piece has a coloured base, painted in 'Craig & Rose, Angelica Green'. It has been mounted on gold coloured hairpin legs. It includes two shelves. The top shelves are perfect for glasses & ornaments. The shelves are adjustable, other than the central shelf which features a hidden lamp to illuminate your antiquities. The wiring will need to be checked by a qualified electrician if you wish to use it. At the top are two glass door, rimmed in teak. They open from the centre outwards. The piece would have been made in the 1960s when G plan almost exclusively used teak veneer. The patina of the veneer is gorgeous & it shows very little wear & tear considering its age. ''Introduced back in 1966, the Fresco range grew to become the G Plan's wildest success. To create the Fresco design classics, G Plan used the omnipresent motif of the circle to marry the trendy sculptural look characteristic for Italian furniture with already famous Scandinavian style teak. Fresco, was a new G-Plan teak range with sculptural style emphasising curves rather than straight lines. It was G-Plan's most successful range & remained in production for many years. .With over 2000 employees, G Plan continued to operate under the Gomme family until 1987 when they sold the company to the board of directors. The following years brought significant downsizing, but the production never stopped. Today G Plan operates as part of Sofa Brands International, a holding company that also acquired Parker Knoll & Duresta.
