A impressively large & bright, pristine piece of classic modern translucent Murano mould blown glass by Carlo Nason dating to the turn of this century. With deep bright blue glass to the softly rounded top fading to smokey grey at the heavy solid base, this tall teardrop shaped vase makes a bright statement. perfect for flowers & foliage display, or simply on its own for a pop of colour. There are no chips or scratches, this is fresh from the factory, old new stock. A substantially heavy piece at 2kg as is to be expected from genuine Murano glass, there is an acid etched stencil to the base with NASON & a clear sticker with the company name in black: Nason, glass collection murano.com Height : 37cm / 14.5 Top diameter: 8cm / 3 Body Diameter: 15cm /6 Base Diameter: 6.5cm / 2.5 Weight: 2kg The vase comes with its original box. Flowers & other items not included. About the maker: V Nason & C. Founded in the thirties by Vincenzo Nason, heir of one of the most ancient families of Murano, the glassworks has established itself in the period of greatest artistic splendor of the island with a brand that became well known in Italy & also abroad. The company, on a surface of six thousand square meters, had about twenty ovens & could also produce 15 different colors daily. It was one of the last furnaces to continue the production of industrial glass, including for example lighting components, bathroom accessories & dental practices. It had always been run by family members. in its moment of maximum expansion, until 2000 the company had about 80 employees & was one of the largest on the island of Murano. in 2004 Nason & C. closed its doors, & was declared bankrupt.
