a fantastic kitschy Majolica-style vintage vase by Hornsea Pottery from their FAUNA range. This is an early version of pattern number 102 & depicts a woodland scene with a tree stump & two squirrels which appear to be kissing. This red clay vase is glazed in muted colours which I think are much more appealing than the later versions in white clay the blue green grey of rhe main glaze is wonderful. This item will have been made at Hornsea between 1949 & 1952. the pressed Hornsea mark is faint. later versions of this vase ha e squirrels but they are not in this position. it's very sweet indeed that they look like they are kissing. there are two apertures in the vase to insert posies of flowers. This item has been wonderfully looked after & is in perfect condition. It looks as good as the day it was made. This is an early vintage item from Hornsea & is a lovely addition to a collection or as a talking point filled with some flowers. it is certainly a collectors piece.
