A unique piece of textile history, once framed & hung, your new artwork will not just be decorative, it can be a fabulous topic for discussion. Many of our customers are fascinated about the detail & accuracy of each painted square & love working out how each point/square plays its unique part in transferring its weave to create a woven fabric! The print, our ref VAN 6244 on a 300grm2 tinatone grosso textured artboard has outside measurements; 32cm wide x 45cm high 12 5/8 x 17 3/4 inch The internal measurement of the print are 30cm wide x 31cm high 11 3/4 wide x 12 1/8 high The featured design, ref 6244 was drawn up in July 1914 in Roubaix, France at Jacquard furnishing fabric weaver Vanoutryve. The talented designer was O.Goethale who was responsible for numerous jacquard design for the company prior to the outbreak of World war one. We were pleased to discover other work by the designer in the firms archive dated 1923 which was when they returned to work in the rebuilt factory after the war. It does seem incongruous that such beautiful work was still being created a few weeks before the 1st world war trenches were built a few miles from the factory in Roubaix. The weaver Vanoutryve produced quality Tapestry & Epingle fabrics as well as Lissere & lampas fabric. The point paper of this colourful floral tapestry design was purchased in Como, Italy in May 2019 by Richard M R Smith. Richard has a large textile archive collected over his time working in the Jacquard furnishing weaving industry. The Archive based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. England is a resource to the fabric & interior decorator market as well as a resource of artworks for The Point Paper Art Company.
