This glorious & voluptuous 1960s West German Fat Lava vase by Bay Keramik is a perfect example of bold Mid Century Modern pottery. The vase features a strong Fat Lava texture in a volcanic design of red, orange, yellow & white over black making this wonderful ceramic into a beautifully tactile experience. Form marked 66 25 Bay W-Germany Bay Keramik was formed in Ransbach-Baumbach in 1933 & went on to become one of the most collectible & well known ceramics creators. West German pottery is the name given to pottery produced in Western Germany during the 1950s, 1960s & 1970s. This era has been viewed as the Golden Age of ceramics where potters experimented with colour, glaze, shape including the famous Fat Lava style. One of the enduring qualities of West German pottery is that it dates from a fascinating time in modern history, viewing the porcelain mark of a country that was formed & dissolved in such dramatic fashion is not something you get used to.
