Originally a knot with a very practical purpose, we have used beautifully soft, natural cotton rope to turn the Jar Sling into a decorative piece, & would add a subtle nautical feel to a coastal home, or make a great gift for someone with a maritime interest. in nautical terms, the jar sling has one practical purpose: to assist with carrying heavy items. The central part of the knot would be slipped over the neck of a bottle or jar with the top loop & loose ends pulled in opposite directions to tighten the knot. The loose ends could then be tied together to create a handle, & together with the first loop create a secure & comfortable way to carry an item. The construction of the knot allows for the tension to remain, making the item being carried completely secure. It is also known as a hackamore knot, & can be used as a bridle for a horse. The central part of the knot would create the noseband, with the long loop as the head piece & the loose ends as the reins. Finished dimensions: approx 75cm long x 16cm wide. Weight: approx 500g (1lb). Made by hand in the UK & to order using thick soft natural cotton rope, accented with coloured cotton cord. The looped top makes it easy to display. The loose ends are unravelled which will leave a natural wave to the rope - please note this will drop over time. As we use a natural rope, it may contain tiny flecks & slightly vary in tone. We do our best to photograph in natural daylight to display the colours as accurately as possible, however actual colours may vary slightly from what you see on your screen. in addition there may be a slight colour variation between different batches of rope. The rope & cord are compliant with OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which guarantees that it has been tested & certified to not contain harmful substances, making it suitable for children & people with allergies. Proudly made using traditional techniques to create the finished piece (no glue or stitches). Each piece is completely unique & may be ever so slightly different from the one photographed. Designed as decoration & for indoor use only. Colours may differ slightly due to lighting & your device screen settings. When can I expect to receive my order? I can usually get your order dispatched within 3 weeks. You have 24 hours after placing your order to cancel it if you change your mind before I start working on it. Everything is done by hand, by me, Becky, & it takes a little time for me to make it & get it ready to be packaged up before heading out to you.
