Description
The Al-Hakim Mosque, also known as the al-Anwar Jami mosque, was built in Fatimid Cairo at the end of the tenth century. At the time, it was one of the largest mosques in the world. The mosque suffered the winds of time & entered a dilapidated state in the early modern era. Napolean's army turned this once great Fatimid structure into a stable, & over time, its remaining structures began to be replaced. However, since the mosque had a significance to the Dawoodi Bohra community of India, they chose to renovate & rebuild it, to resemble its former glorious state. There was a lot of work to be undertaken & this community rebuilt the mosque. This work of art, based on the architectural feature of an arabesque laced window grille, is a tribute to the mosque's history & heritage. This 16x12x1 (approximate) piece of wood has been painted & embellished to create an abstract & amazingly unique work of art. It's an eye-turner & modern addition to any space in your home or office.
